Kawanecha is one of Japan’s finest premium teas, produced in Kawanehoncho, Shizuoka Prefecture.
Kawanehoncho is a small town with a population of approximately 5,000.
It is located in a region designated as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, where people live in harmony with rich and unspoiled nature.
Founded in 1830, Sawamotoen has been a family-run specialist in Kawanecha for generations.
Our philosophy, passed down since our founding, is simple:

We specialize exclusively in Sencha, the most traditional and refined style of Japanese green tea.
We work closely with carefully selected local farmers who have long-standing relationships with us.
They cultivate tea leaves with great care, and we skillfully blend each harvest to create teas with depth, balance, and character.
The unique geographical and climatic conditions of Kawanehoncho allow for the cultivation of high-quality tea with minimal reliance on pesticides.
However, this environment also limits production volume, and many of the finest tea leaves are still harvested by hand.
